Inspector • Cullen has received a telegram ■ from the constable' at Rafrene reporting the death of Maitera, Martin Meira who was kicked by. a horse at . Waiomaku (Hokianga); on Monday. The lad died in the Rawene Hospital yesterday. NAPIER, May 13. At Hastings Police Court this morning Frederick Thomas Farr was brought up charged with attempting to commit suicide by taking poison. He was remanded till Saturday. Alice Logan, aged about 16, third daughter of Mr George Logan, of Tamamui, received injuries to her head through being thrown out of a trap at Waipawa,, and died about two hours later. John Tracey, aged 73. a well known resident of Taradale, and formerly road overseer for Hawkes Bay County Council, was found dead this morning on* a sofa at a. neighbour's house where lie had stayed for the night. " .
At the Theatre Royal last evening, during the progress of the' boxing tournament .a young man named Robb had one of the large bones in his forearm broken- in a simple manner. He was aiming at his opponent with a 'swinging blow when his arm evidently struck that of the other pugili-st with the rumlt that the sudden jar caused the bone to break. Dr 6abites was summoned and verv soon iset the
injured limb, but he says it-\ will be a couple of months before the break is mended properly. This is the second accident of this character caused to pugilists in Timaru within the paret month.
