GARDEN PESTS. \ Per Press Association. NAPIER, March 30. A largely, attended meeting .of the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association was. held at Hastings on Saturdayl Resolutions were * passed strongly condemning''- certain statements made in a southern paper—"That ,the codlin; moth could not be controlled, and that the orchard, and Garden Tests -Act was worse than and asserting ;■■ positively that from the experience of membeie of the Association if the instructions given by the Government officials as to systematic spraying were followed, the crup. as a rule is-practically saved. Tbe'XJovernment were urged to strictly enforce the regulations with regard to these pests and also the fruit fly which was regarded as very much worse than the codlin moth.
An instance was quoted of an prchurdfot who. three years ago, could only ,get 70 cases of clean apples; this year by systematic spraying he got oyer teii' torse of applets- from the same orchard.
