POLITICAL REFORM LEAGUE.
t MEETING AT TEMUKA. ~ A meeting cf the ' recently formed branch of the Political Reform J.«tgus was hekl on Thursday evening. There was a fair attendance. Tha meeting was convened by the organicer for tha Dominion, who was prevented from being present owing to being detained in the. Ncr.h Island. In Mr Mai tin's absence jlr W. wa.s voted to the chair. The minute relating to the formation of the League was continued, <lll d Mr Colin Campbell, who had' been acting as secretary, was peimanently -appointed to that petit. The seeietary of the New Zealand J-ft-ague (Auckland) wrote asking for particulars of the executive and membership. The secretary vya's instructed to furnish this information. The cons.itutiori of the League wa.s submitted! and approved, and it was decided that the animal membership fe:o be 2.5-6 d. A letter from the organiser with reference to certain lines to be adopted for the next general election wao considered at length, and it was agreed that in thi meantime the work of enrolling members ba continued, and that the campaign pre-, per be commenced after Mr Massey's visit to Canterbury. It was mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition would give an address at Ashbuivon. in the early partof the present iecess (and also at Timaru if the j.nting member was net ab;ant from the Dominion at that;,date). It was proposed by Mr R. Edgar and 'seconded by Sir T. H. Goy that the Leader of the Opposition be invited to give ;ui address at Temuka at a date during the rececs convenient to himself, and when 011 his Canterbury tour. The following were elected to take in 'hand the matter of Mr Massey's visit, and act as a provisional committee in ananging liis reception:Messrs R. Edgar, W. Waugh, A: C., Watson, W. F. Evans, C. A. Winn, Dr Hayes, and the chairman, with power to add to their number. The secretary was instructed to 'write to Mr Maguey conveying the League's invitation to give an address at Temuka. On the suggestion of Mr M. Scannell it was agreed' to invi".e the country branches of the League ani Opposition supporteis to> join in the reception to Mr Massey. The secretary was instructed to advise all members of the League of the date of 'Mr Massey's visit ,andi to call another meeting of the commit lea to arrange details for the visit and address. - It was reported by the ■ secretary that copies of the constitution had been posted to all known Oppositionists in the Temuka district. / This jyas approved of, and ib was agreed that sub-branches be established 1 after the Christmas holidays in all tha country townships. tinfIEXBUBSTCMSUHBBBHBIfIIi
