A GRAVE CHARGE.
Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Dec. 6. At the Coroner's inquiry into the death of LuCy Goldfinch the evidence given by Alice Stubbs, a schoolmate of deceased, showed that they were induced by a man, identified its Emanuel White, to have a ride on his horse. The pace at first was. slow, but soon became and they-' slipped off. Dec-eased struck the ground first, and wii.nen~ fell on -top of deceased. Another witness stated that the children fell off when the horse began to buck. Edwin Heorok siuid that White advised the girls not to go too fast, but although fairly close. White did nothing to assist the children after the accident. White stated that the pony was a quiet one. The pace was not more than -a canter, but the girl:; 10-t their balance, and fell backwards. The jury found that Lucy Goldfinch died fi'oni injuries received by falling off White's horse, ftnd that White contributed to the accident bv placing dec-cased on the horse and neglecting to take proper precautions for her safety. White was at once charged with mantteugbter, and remanded till Monday. He wa-; allowed to go free on his owji recognisances #f £25.
