The board of directors of the bank interested in tie Lithgow ironworks will to-day consider the action of Parliament in giving tifae Government priority in connection with the proposed advance of £70,000. The bank holds £200,000 •worth of securities on its debit, and -under these circumstances it is expected that the K-i.nk -will reject Parliament's proposals. FOREST CONSERVATION. An interim report of the Forestry Commission recommends that the exports of ironbark and tallow •wood be prohibited for ten years. The Commissioners find that the timber resources of the State are not of tie magnitude generally supposed, and require to be administered "with, the ■utmost caution. THE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION, lieutenant Shackleton, leader of the Antarctic .expedition, -was -welcomed by the Lord Mayor and a representative gathering- in the Town Hall. MELBOURNE, Dec. 6. Sir John Madden, president- of the Geographical Society ,is appealing for funds for Lieutenant Shackleton's expedition. BOWLING In the bowling matches Tictoria defeated New South Wales.
