Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright REVOLT AGAINST THE CHURCH. ADELAIDE, September 19.
At the General Assemby of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, Dr Clouston, in his opening address, declared that there was a decided revolt against the Church. People were- discriminating between Christ and the Church, and said that the modern church did not fairly represent the original society established by Christ. He preached [o outcasts and associated with sinners, but the Church with its respectabilities and pew rents was for the well-to-do and respected. Received 0.31 a.m.. September. 20th. USE OF ELECTRICAL MACHINES. SYDNEY, September 19. The Minister of Mines promised a deputation of miners to appoint, a Royal C'om•,mii?sicn to enquire whether the use of electrical machines is dangeious in gassy mines. RETURNED TO PORT. NEWCASTLE, September 19. The Kaiapoi and Hero 'hare returned from the search of the Monowai.
