MONEY AND JEWELLERY STOLEN. MAIL BAGS RIFLED. Burglars chloroformed the sleeping inmates of a branch posL office at Stoke-on-Trent, and stole cash and jewellery. NEW YORK, August 21. The mail bags, with £50,000 worth of valuabls were- stolen from the train on thei Burlington-Quincy railroad. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 22. At the. Police Court William Patrick Harrington, was charged with stealing within November last and- the present month, drapery to the value of over £IOO, the property of the Mutual Storre, hisemployers. On the application of the police a remand for a week was granted. Henry Francis Smith, charged with breaking into the premises of Hogg and Co.. and stealing an overcoat and a bicycle, was a'.ro remanded for a week, it being stated that it was the intention of the accused to plead guilty, after the evidence had IjL-en -taken.
