TIMARU BOWLING CLUB.

Tuie annual meeting of the Timaru Bowlling Club was held on Thursday. Mr M. Whits (vice-president) occupied* the chair in the absence of tin* president. (Mr W. Priest), who is at present in the Old Country, and there was a- large attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the balance-sheet showing a credit of about £69. It was decided to recommend to the incoming Committee that a sufficient amount be raised on bank overdraft, to extinguish the £250 lent- on mortgage on the security of the Club's buildings. Tlie election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr Wm .Evans; vicepresidents. Messrs M. White and G. Gahites (re-eleetedl ; hon. treasurer. Mr J- R. The queslion of the formation of another Bowling Club at the south end of the town was discussed, the general feeling being that those interested , in the formation of such a. club should fake the initiative, when the Timaru club would do their best to forward the interests of the new club. It was decided to recommend to the incoming committee that, the construction of certain additions and conveniences to the pavilion be gone on with a.t once. The hon. secretary and hon. treasurer were presented with solver pencils as a slicht token of the club's appreciation of their services. A discussion took place upon the ques-

lion as to whether tin.- club should during the coming season purchase alcoholic liquor for the ciiteitainnient of visiting bowlers. 11 was resolved that no alcoholic liquor be purchased.
