Locally the wheat market remains iinn, but there are few buyers ai, the prices asked. The agitation that lias taken place hi soma quarters in favour of the removal of the duty on wheat and Hour is said to be affecting business somewhat, as some buyers an» waiting to know what tha Government int.-nd to propose, in the matter. Cat sheaf chaff is very firm, though the improved price has brought forward more otitis of supplies; as much as 95s is being asked, 90s is the price that buyers are paying. Potatoes are dull of sab with little prospect of improvement as Tasmanian potatoes are being fully offered and at a j>rice that will miible "them to ba landed at £5 15s at Wellington or Lyttelton. This price prevents any' export bu«nsss to the north b:ing done* with Canterbury grown potatoes.
