THEATRE ROYAL.

RICKARDS' VAUDEVILLE PANY."Mr Kany Rickards' Vaudeville Company made' their second appearance in Tiinaru last evening. In spite .of the web evening, there was another good attendance, the downstairs part of -t-ixe hou.se b-3-ing again • crowded, 'while the circle was well tilled. The programme presented the previous evening- was again submitted and proved a most popular one. The performance by Charlene. and Charlene was with.-, /oufc doubt the pick of the evening's entertainment. Mi- Charlene gave a number of balancing and juggling feats of extreme difficulty with apparently the greatest case, while in his concluding feat of torch-jugg-ling, to Madame Charlene's xylophone accompaniment ,he excelled himself, and his p'erfoimance simply brought down the house. Madame Charlene gave' another; very fine, exposition of xylophone playing. Her performance can best be compared to playing the-'fastest jigs on, etc., a piano with two fingers,;only.. King and Benson were again most successful in their songs and burlesques, while Mr Fred. Russell, a. ventriloquist of high order, and Miss Cassie Walmer, a pleasing singer and expert sand-dancer, gave their turns in. a-manner, which satisfied all. Messrs Hart and Rockfort .and Miss Ada Sadler contributed a solo item apiece, and the two former sang a duet, while Mr George Dean supplied a couple of instalments of humourous sketches. The programme closed with a couple of excellent bioscope series, reproduced bv a first-chvs machine. NEW PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT.

The company will give an entirely new programme this evening, when the whole of the artists engaged will present- a scries of novel and interesting items. Cha-rkn* and Charlene will" continue to_ astonish their audience with their combined juggling and musical entertainment. King and Benson will bi seen in a new and original burlesque comedy "The r~".sing Show," which has 1 been presented by them throughout England, America and Australia with the utmost success. Miss Cassie Walmer will appear in a- new .musical scene " Moving Day" in which the " Dusky Princess" will introduce a budget' of new songs and dances. The ever-popular actor vocalist, Mr George Dean, will submit a mimb:-r of vocal gems from his repertoire. M;esrs Rochfort find Hart, among other items, will render " Oro Pro Nobis." Last but by no means lea-st there will be a. new series of animated pictures. -So- altogether the change of programme promises to eclipse the brilliant one- (hut ;has preceded it. Th<? combination is unquestionably the best vaudeville attraction that has ever visited Timaru and owing to the -enormous, expenses, only a succession of full houses will repay the management for th°ir trouble in sending the; company here. The season closes to-morrow.
