Several miners who wore working in the Comet- Mine on tha Rand were waylaid and sjamboked. In another instance, a house, the inmates of which resumed work after striking, was blown up with dynamite. The explosion killed a shift boss named Richards, who belonged to the Comet Mine. THE CARPENTERS' AWARD. Per Press Association. IiuNEDIN, June 18. The Inspector of Awards has filed with the Clerk of Award's for Otago and Southland district' 54 applications in which Oamaru employers and employes'-- are concerned for the enforcement of the carpenters' and joiners' award.
