The newspaper "Debats" considers that the Fran co-Spanish and Anglo-Spanish agreements are for the Western Mediterranean and part of the Atlantic, and so far as the adjacent countries are concerned, what the Franco-Japanese agreement is for the Far East. The paper adds that nobody but those believing in a disturbance of the status quo might ljenefit themselves, could regard the agreement with disfavour. RECEPTION IN THE CHAMBER. Received 11.16 p.m., June 18th. PARIS, June 18. The Franco-Japanese agreement has been published. Both nations to respect equality of treatment in. China, for the commerce' and subjects of all nations. The members of the Chamber of Deputies unanimously cheered M. Pichori s explanatory statements claiming that-the interests of Germany. Italy and the United- States had been particularly safeguarded since the agreement -was based on economic equality of all.
