I cannot allow the firm of Messrs King and Co. to pose before tlie public as champions of (he Grocers' Association of Timaru. for while, thev have. something to light for by way of legaining their former huge profits on factory 'butter, I would adyi.se this firm in particular to confine themselves to facts, and not endeavour to mislead the public. Tlia new departure ventured on by the South C'anteibury Daily Company, Ltd.. is in the very best interests of butter consumers and milk suppliers .in gen'eial. We are verv soriy to interfere with any grocer's business, but. feel justly entitled' to deal with our own produce to the very best advantage: and although our action is antagonistic from a grocers point of view, w;' would ask him to submit with a good grace, for we will be very willing to assist him in any other direction when practicable, but certainly the milk .supplier, who has to to.il huri!—late and early —must i>.> considered equal wi'.h the grocer, and thus share the huge profits which the latter has always enjoyed since the inception of the Company. In this morning's issue of the "Timaru Herald" a very bold statement is made by Messrs King and Co. regarding- the piiza- moneys won by the Company's late manager at 1 lux Auckland Winter , Show, but I do net wish in any way to resort to 'a form of advertising which is likely to depi-rcate anyone in the eyes of the public, but may state I have in every eas-:- b:aten Mr Dixon whenever we have c-onipekd in the same class. In conclusion, may I ask that Messrs King and Co. advertise a. true and coriect statement of the results of the butter competitions held at the Auckland Winter Show i:i May last, and also to explain to the public where their Fern Tree Factory JJutter is manufactured, and the grade awarded it.
