ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND ,May 17. At Mamaku, a sad accident occurred on Thursday morning by which Burke, a bush-man, lost his life. He was working for Mr Ta.pon, and was struck on the head by a falling ' limb of a tree, sustaining a fracture of the jaw. Death, caused by hemorrhage, occurred four hours later. As Mrs Henwood, in company with her nephew, Mr Schwartz, was waiting in a buggy at Otahuhu yesterday, the horse took fright - at a motor car and bolted. The two occupants held on to the reins; when turning the comer the buggy capsized throwing them out. Mrs Henwood was severely shaken and received 1 cuts about the face; Mr Schwartz escaped with a shaking.
