THE DRAINAGE SCHEME.
To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald.", Sir, —Before voting on the above question next Wednesday, i, as well as many others, -would like /..ho following 1 questions answered: — •. ■ ' Ist. Will it be compulsory to connect ■with the underground drain, if carried? 2nd. What will be the cost to the individual householder or owner? 3rd. What will be the position of the owners if compelled to connect, yet ; cannot afford to do so? There are hundreds of people* in Timaru who own the house they live in, but .still not b'a in a position to pay £5, £lO, or £ls to connect with the drain. This also applies to maDy others, who ar© paying for their homes through the building societies or otherwise . cn_ .the instalment system. Replies to the above will oblige. I am, etc. AN OWNER,
