A deputation representing the Presbyterian Mission in the New Hebrides interviewed Mr.Deakin, the Federal Premier. The principal suggestion made was that representations should be made to the Imperial Government in faivour of the Go-venor-General being appointed British High Commissioner: He could then appoint . deputies whenever necessary. .', The introduction of ticket of leave convicts and recruiting native labour for service outside the group, should be prohibited: ., 'The deputation asked that the Federal fiscal door'beopened a little; toi allow- ofv the admission of maize from the group..
