ADRIFT WITH A BROKEN SHAFT. THE GLAUCUS IN DANGER, United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received 1.22 a.m., July 2nd. SYDNEY, July 1. Wilson's Promontory reports that the steamer Glaucus, from Newcastle to Melbourne with a ■ cargo of coal, signalled this afternoon/ that her main shaft was broken; that she was m tow of the steamer Kanowna, and that they were making for Waterloo Bay. A whole gale was blowing. - . A'later report states that the tow-rope broke off Waterloo Bay, and that the Glaucus had burned two blue lights. The Kanowna had T, r n/"pp' 7 <»'l nn her course, and the steamer Perth was standing by the GlaSicus. The s'eamer Depatoh "reported the accident to the Glaucus at Cape Patterson, with an urgent request to send a tug. '. ,
