The Commissioner of Mines on the Rand states that after a fair trial unskilled white labour at the mines is a failure. Mauy men will only accept temporary work, thus disorganising the mines. DEALING WITH THE NATIVES. Received 11.4 p.m.. February 19th. CAPETOWN, February 19. The Natal Government have ordered the troops to sweep the country south of Unkomoah clear of natives, owing to reports that th? chiefs are combining. The natives at a meeting at Mapundo declared that they were unuble to pay .she poll' tax.
