AUCKLAND, February IS. Tbe Leader of the Opposition was entertained at a. garden party on Saturday, between. 1500 and 2000 ptrsons being piesent. Mr Ma.ssty said that tie defeat of tbe Opposition wj mainly due to the patronage attaching to the Ministerial position. the promises of expenditure of Government nioney and their organisation. Tbe Opposition must organise; tbey had been beaten, but must not take tbeir defeat lying <i«M.
