TYCHO-TAIKO—TIKO?
To the Editor of the "Tima-ru Herald
Sir,—l -see from your to-day's issue that the Education Board is seeking information as to the correct sjielling, language, and meaning of the name 'of a flat variously written as "Tyeho" or "Taiko." The correct name of the fiat is "Tiko" Trhieh is pure Maori; but as the meaning of the word has a bouquet offensive to the .olfactory nerves of civilized people, sosr.e polite surveyor, in making out later plans, thought he would give it a classic aouud by spelling it "Tycho."
I am, etc.,
