The Mayor of Christchurch received today a. reply from Sir Joseph Ward to- his letter asldng for the clemency of the Government in connection with the dismissal of the postal officials as the outcome of the voucher affair. The Minister states that tiie-case of the officials has been most carefully reconsidered by .the Cabinet, "but after reviewing the whole matter and circumstances surrounding it, it was decided that the decision already arrived at was to be upheld.
