RAID ON GAMING HOUSES.
Per Press Association. " CHBISTCHUBCH, January 1. At about 3 o'clock this afternooh, the raided simultaneously the business premises occupied by Garnett and Grant, J. Boss and 'M. Livingstone, all prominent bookmakers. ' Nine'men were arrested, at Boss's office and' taken to the lock-up, on a charge of being found in a* common gaming house. ' Boss was not on the premises at the time, but it is understood that he will be proceeded against by summons on a charge of keeping a gaming house. Barnetfc and Grant and Livingstone were alose in their offices when the raid was made. They were all arrested on a charge of keeping. gaming bouses, but were bailed oufc after a short detention.. Books and papers found on the premises were taken, possession of. The arrested men'will come before the Court- to-morrow morning.
