THE UNIVERSITY SENATE.
Per- Pr/iss Association, DUNEDIN,. February 21. The meeting of the Senate of the. New Zealand University was continued to-day. On the motion of Professor Brown, it was resolved, after discussion, that a, committee be appointed to report on the best means of encouraging past graduate research. It was resolved that it be referred to a committee to consider whether candidates for degrees in music should not be compelled to attend some school of music in the colony. Sir Robert Stout's motion to allow history, science, and the art of teaching to be included as subjects of examination for the B.A. degree, was lost by 13 to 3. The report of the law committee, recommending thatthe law examiners, before deciding on the results, should meet for conference, and that the examiners for this year should be residents of the Middle Island, and meet in Dunedin for conference, was adopted. ____
