The marriages of Winifred and Joseph McCagkey. and Margaret and Hugh McI.augliian were to-day dissolved in the Divorce Court, each case being on the ■ wife's petition. Mr Justice Edwards gave judgment on the petition of Alfred Taylor, ordering the winding up of the Buller United Goldmming and Dredging No. 1 Ohikaiti claim. CHRISTCHURCH, February 21. Peter Tainui and William Uru, junior, two Maori boys of 13 years of age, appeared before Mr Justice Denniston this morning for sentence, having pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a native girl at Woodend. A difficulty occurred owing to the Criminal Code enacting that in the
by conviction before a jury or by a Magistrate convicting summarily, and the accused being remanded for sentence. Neither of these alternatives occurred, and Mr Justice Denniston postponed his decision until he had consulted his brother Judges. He ordered the boys to come up for sentence when called, on the understanding that their fathers punished them.
