THE ENGLISHMEN V. BATHURST. United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright. . Received 5.34 p.m., February 9th. SYDNEY, February 9. The Bathurst match was drawn. The Englishmen in their first innings scored 505 runs; Quaife (not out) 159, MacLaren 79, and Hayward 44. The Western District in the first innings made 177; Barnes 33. Poidevin 26, Holdship 30. THE TEST MATCHES. Received 10.24 a.m., February Bth. MELBOURNE, February 8. It has been decided to start the fifth test match on February 28th instead of March Ist. Barnes is still under treatment, but hopes to participate in the next test match, on the 14th inst. Saunders goes to Sydney so that his bowling may be utilised ! in the test match. SENIOR MATCHES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, February 8. In cup cricket to-day, United v. Midland, United made 332 runs; Sims (not out) 133, Durant 33. Midland in their first innings knocked -up 183; Strange 58, Lawrence 44, Tolan 33. In their second innings they scored 42 for two wickets. In the match, Lancaster Park v. Sydenham, the Park made 215 runs, Sydenham responding with 95 and 46. . TIMARU V. COMBINED TEAM. ! An interesting match was played between the Timaru Club and a combined team from Temuka and Winchester, at the Athletic grounds on Saturday, when the home team won by four wickets. The combined team winning the toss, started well, making 48 for the first wicket. The tail proved to be weak, and the side totalled 111, of which Kalaugher (missed at 15. and at 30) made 51 by crisp playing, and Feilden made 18. by sound play. Timaru fared badly at the commencement, six wickets being down for 52. However, Jefferson and Valentine, by sound play, won the match, bringing the score to 121. before they were separated.
