POULTRY SOCIETY.

A meeting of the South Canterbury Poultry Society was held in the Old Bank Hotel last evening, when there was a good attendance of members, and Mr S. R. Burns was voted to the chair.

Correspondence was received from Mr A. Clarkson and Mr Lafi'erty, to the that they had agreed to hand the game trophy over to Mr 0. Lucas, secretaiy of the South Island P : oukry Association, who will be given instructions by them how to dispose of the same. It was resolved that- the secretary be instructed to forward the game trophy to Mr Lucas.

Mr F. J. Lundon, of Waimate, requested that four lots be put in for barred rocks, and it was decided to grant his request. The prize schedule was passed as read. It was decided that members' tickets should remain at ss. . The secretary said that he had received a cheque for £2 from the Christchurch Meat Company, as insurance on the poultry sent Home, which was burnt in the' Papanui. It was considered very lucky to- get anything at all, and not counting the preliminary expenses they had, there would be 3s a pair for the exhibitors. It was decided to write to the following gentlemen, asking them if they would act as judges : —Poultry—Messrs J. Tonar (Auckland), L. Banks (Christchurch), W. Earnshaw (Christchurch). A. Palmer (Timaru). and J. Condon (Timaru). Pigeons;— Mr W. Earnshaw. Canaries—Messrs A. S. Palmer. P. B. H. Luscombe and F. Hooper. Cats —Messrs R. Warrington and P. Stratford. Cakes—Mr A. Budd, elected. Pets—Mr F. Watson, elected.
