THE GOLD MEDAL

The members of the Timaru Rifles fired on Thursday fpr the company's gold medal, valued at £8 Bs, also for prizes pfesented bv Messrs Pratt, Hardy, and Mee. The medal was provided by the oompany in 1888, and has been fired for every year since. The conditions were seven shots at 200 yds standing, 300 yds and 500 yds, any position; to be competed for annually, all competitors firing from scratch; to be won twice in succession or three times at.. intervals; winner in each year to hold it for the year, and should he lose the medal be presented with a. g°ld bar valued at 255. Sergeant Macdonald proved to be the winner on Thursday, and having won it twice before it now becomes his property. Corporal Currie takes_ Mr Pratt's prize, Coiporal Martin Mr Hardy s, and Private T.
