OBITUARY.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 7. Dr Alexander Simmonds Kenny, the youngest son of the late Lieutenant-Colonel Kenny, has died at Onehupga Deceased was born at Onehunga, where he resided ■until he accepted a position on the Melanesian mission) at Norfolk IsJand. Subsequently he went to England" to qualify as a medical practitioner, and later on held the position of senior demonstrator at King's College for sixteen years. About three years ago he returned to New Zealand. Dr Kenny was a brother of District Judge Eyre Kenny, and cousin of Dr Kenny, of Rotorua sanatorium.
NELSON, May 7. News has just been received of the death of Renata Te Kawharu, at Whangarei, Croixelles; aged 88. He was the last chief of the Nga Tikoata. tribe, and was a connection of Te Rauparaha, his father having come south from the Waikato; He took much interest in the establishment, of a; Maori school at the Croixelles. He asin piloting the expedition ships! into Nelson Haven.
