At the wool sales merinos are firm. Scoured wools show a slight' advance on. opening rates; but crossbreds are unchanged. The sales included Wheco 7id, Oroka 9£d, Kaputone lOd. Up to date 64,423 bales have beeni catalogued, and 48,467 bales sold. Mutton, crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, Canterbury, 4d; Dunedin and Southland, 34d; North Island, 3id. Lamb, prime Canterbury, s£d; fair average, including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury, sd. River Plate crossbred or merino wethers, heavy, 2|d; light, 2gd. Beef is unchanged. Hemp is steady. Good Wellington March-May shipment, £23 10s; April-Juno ■ shipment, £22 15s. At the kauri gum sales 2679 packages • •were offered and 1300 packages were sold. Three-quarter scraped were firm and all were bought. In stock, 1747 packages.
Pw Press Association DUNEDIN, May 6. The concluding sale of damaged wool by the Strathgryfe took place to-day. There was good competition, and prices were on a par with- those of the previous sale. Merino fleece in greasebrought from! £7 to £lO 15s. The average price was £8 2s 7d per bale. Sojne local wool • was , offered. Straggled lota of crossbred fleece sold at from 4d to 5d per lb; merino, 5d to 6d.
