» ADDINGTON MARKETS. Per Press. Association. CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. CATTLE. The entry of fat cattle was made up of 200 head of mixed quality. Heavy weights sold well ; inferior were neglected. v Some North Island bullocks sold at £8 to £9, steers £4 12s 6d to £7, heifers £4 5a to £6 17s 6d, and cows £2 15s to £5 17s 6d. Per lOOlbs, best beef 18s to 193, good 15s 6d to 17s 6d, cow and inferior down to 12s. Stores met more competition, the presence of buyers from Nelson and the West Coast helping matters considerably. Two-year-old sleers sold at £3 to £4, and yearlings 20s to 30s. Dairy cows were a poor lot, and £5 was the best price obtained. SHEEP. There was a small entry of fat sheep, and the quality was very mixed. Freezing sorts sold well, 'and the better class of butchers sheep showed an improvement of 6d to 9d. Best wethers sold at 12s to 149 4d, others down to 10s 9d, best ewes 103 to 12a 6d, others down to 4s 6d. Over 2000 lambs came forward. Freezing sorts sold well but batchers lots were slightly easier. Heavy weights brought up to 13s, freezing sorts 10a lOd to 12s 6d, and others down to 9s 4d. In store sheep all classes met keen competition, wethers and two tooths selling exceptionally well. Four-tooth wethers sold at 10a 4d to 11b 9d, two-tooths 7s 5d to 10s lid, ewes and lambs 5s lOd to 8s 4d. PIGS. Pigs were eagerly competed for. The prices were— Baconers 37s 6d to 665, porkers 24s to 355, stores 18s to 395, and weaners 12s to 15s.
