The Legislative ' Council rejected the Workmen's Compensation Bill. THE MOUNT MORGAN COMPaNY. Brisbane, December 14. At the half-yearly meeting of the Mount Margan Company it was stated that there was a credit balance of £35,000, after paying £175,000 in dividends and all expenses. Received December 14th, 10.40 p.m. The Mount Morgan Company treated 107.860 tonß of ore, yielding 84,0000z5. I This is below the average of the previous half-year, owing to the large quantity of low grade ores smelted and the discontinuance of the treatment of ordinary grade stone from the lower works, consequent on the high cost of working. The report recommends entirely altering the upper works, or closing them altogether and constructing entirely new works.
