United Kingdom is 2,840,000 quartgffe, and for the Continent 1,860,000. National Bank of New Zealand shares, £2; Bank of New Zealand 4 per cent, guaranteed stock, 102 i ; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, 4 per cent, prior lien debentures, 94£. Tallow, mutton fine, 23s 6d ; medium, 218 ; beef fine, 21s 9d ; medium 20s 6d. Received April 29th, 12.25 a.m. April 28. The wheat market is excited. English is 2s dearer, and foreign has advanced Is. Meat, with the exception of lamb, is considerably firmer. Holders are selling freely, as any serious restriction m American supplies is considered* unlikely. The Antwerp wool sales opened with fair competition ; 2776 bales were offered and 1009 sold. Merinos advanced sto 10 centimes. Pretoria, April 27. The Kruger and Transvaal Dynamite Company have agreed upon a reduction m the price of dynamite by 10a per case. Melbourne, April 28. The perishable produce exported last year was valued at £779,000, compared with more than £1,000,000 m thepreviotfs year. A company of English capitalists ia prepared to spend £500,000 to establish a trade m Australian meat with Egypt, Hong Kong, Tokio, Colombo, Bombay, and Singapore. Cold stores are to be erected at those points, commencing with Egypt. At the annual meeting o the Chamber of Commerce the report si. ..wed a strong return of confidence m business during the year. The Pacific cable question was retried to at length, and the hope was expressed that some definite action would be taken. The report regretted

that the Conference of Premiers adopted a resolution m favour of preferential Customs treatment of British goods, and believed that it would not materially affect British trade, whilst it might injure their own.
