DUNEDIN, January 16. CATTLE. 142 were yarded, mostly good to prime but no, heavy weights. Best bullocks were quitted at £8 Ss to £9 7s 6d, medium to good £7 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d, light weights £5 17s 6d to £7, best cows £6 15s to £7 17b 6d, medium to good £4 15s to £6 10s, light and aged £3 3s 6d to £4 10s. SHEEP. In fat sheep a very heavy entry was presented, 3300 being penned. Competition lacked animation, prices not coming within Is to Is 6d per head of those of last week. Best crossbred wethers sold at 10s to 12s, light and or- ! dinary 8s 6d to 9s 9d, best do. ewes 8s to 9s 6d, light to medium 6s 9d to 7s 9d, merino wethers 3s 6d to 6s 9d. GRAIN. Wheat. — The market remains somewhat lifelessj no demand of any consequence existing, save an occasional inquiry for good velvet. Quotations are— For prime milling velvet 2s 9d to 2s lOd, good to best do. and best tuscan 2s 8d to 2s 9d, good to best red wheat 2s 6d to 2s Bd, medium 2s 6d to 2s 7d, good to best fowls' wheat 2a 6d to 2s 7d, inferior to medium 2s to 2s 5d (ex store, sacks weighed m; terms). Oats. — The business done is limited ; at the same time a considerable amount of inquiiy is being made. Prices are — J£or best feed and milling Is 4Jd to Is sd, "medium to good Is 4d to Is 4sd, inferior Is 3d to Is 3id (ex store, sacks extra ; net). Barley. — There is but little change m the market, which has been rather dull for some time. Quotations are nominal, say, prime malting 3s 3d to 3s 6d, extra prime a shade more, medium 3s to 3s 3d, milling 2s 3d to 2s 9d, feed Is 9d to 2s (ex store, sacks extra ; net).
