FAIRLIE ATHLETIC CLUB.

A meeting of the Fairlie Athletic Club was held at the Fairlie Hotel on Saturday last, Mr I. D. Hamilton, m the chair, a large number of the committee being present. A discussion ensued on the present unsatisfactory arrangement for keeping the keys of the club's ground and stand. Eventually it was agreed that the present keys be left at Mr O'Donohue's Hotel and that duplicate sets be procured for the tennis and cricket committee. A proposition that lady members providing tea during the season be made honorary members of the club was left over till the next annual meeting. It was decided -that tenders be called for chipping and marking the tennis courts, keeping the- cricket pitch m order, opening the grand stand, and attending to the tea room during the season, and that Messrs Banks, Goodwin and Hamilton be a sub-committee to receive tenders. It was resolved that the present lease of the Club's ground for grazing sheep be cancelled ; the matter of arranging with the tenant was left m the hands of the secretary. The sub-committee reported that the tender of Mr J Riddle at £12 had been accepted' for the erection of entrance gates, and"that the work was well m hand. It was agreed that a board 1 containing all names of members of the club be' affixed hi the grand stand, and it was also decided that circulars be sent out to all local persons making use of the Club's ground and material, that the club subscriptions must "be paid. It was decided to procure* two park-seats for the ground at a cost not exceeding 17s 6d each, andthat a fancy dress ball be held under the- auspices of the club at the end of the3eason. After jiassing accounts amounting to £11 Is 9d' the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
