GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

«$. The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Town Board' Was held on Tuesday evening. Some routine correspondence from the Colonial Secretary, the Lands Office, arid applications for change of names on roll were dealt with. A petition was received praying that something be done to reduce the nuisance occasioned by stray stock m the streets, and as a result of & consideration of this matter it was resolved, that . the overseer and Works Committee prepare plans and specifications for a pound, and call for tenders for the necessary material and for the work of erecting it. Slaughterhouse fees were fixed at the same as those of the County of Geraldine ; the appointment of an inspector was held over. Thursday afternoon was appointed as the statutory half .holiday , as it is already customary. Mr C. E. Sherrattwas appointed collector of dog registration fees. Two or three matters of small nuisances were attended to. Accounts were passed amounting to £16 5s 2d. Mr Maslin gave notice to move that the Volunteer Hall be vested m the Town Board. The Board also sat as a Domain Board. The use of the small park was granted for the Church of England aniiual festival. Mr G. H. Patrick's offer of 6s per acre for cocksfoot seed m the bush park was' accepted. Mr Pearpoint waited on the Board to support a petition signed by 53 ratepayers and residents asking that a swimming bath be formed m the domain. Half the necessary excavation had been done, and the petitioners wished for help to complete it, and then sheds and fences would be put up by public subscription. It was resolved to assist the petitioners as requested.
