France is preparing to land an expeditionary force at Majunga. It will march thence upon Antananarivo. GOVERNOR OP SOUTH AUSTRALIA. London, September 27. It is reported that Lord Ripon has consented to Chief Justice Way euooeedlng Lord Kintore as Governor of South Australia. Received 5 pm. September 28th. TBE KAIKOCJRA. The R.M.S. Kaikoura arrived at Plymouth to-day with her cargo of frozen meat m good condition. GENERAL SHIPPING. Arrived — Rangitikei, barque, from Auckland (May 17th). Received 7.30 p.m., September 28th. STRANDING OF A STEAMER. Lisbon, September 27. The steamer Dorunda ran bows on to the rocks at Berlengas, near Peniohe. The vessel sustained serious injury, and her forehold was soon full of water. She was, however, floated off the rooka and beaohed m a favourable spot where the cargo is being unloaded. It is expected tl. at the ship will be saved. (Special to Paras Absoouxioji.) Received 10.50 a.m., September 28th. COLLECTIVISM. London, September 27. Mr Chamberlain contended that the doctrine of collectivism meant confiscation of the savings of the poor and the capital of the rich. The workers, he said, had no sympathy with the new ideaa promulgated by the Trades OongreßS. He urged the Liberal Unionists to formulate a policy to dlsplaoe the theories of anarchy and revolution.
