MOUNT PEEL BOAD BOARD.
A meeting oE the Mount Peel Road Hoard was held ot their office, Peel Forest, on October 21st, all the members being present. Tenders were acceptod as follows:—T. Sugruo, for forming, etc., part of Olark's road; T. Corkery, for improving outting leading to R.S. 36092. Correspondence was read from Mr W. J. Steward, and Mossrs Rhodes ond Hall-Jonss re Rubsidies to local bodies. From Mr 0. J. Harper, granting permission to open quarries on the Raincliff estate. From Mr 0. G. Tripp, asking tbe Board to put hiß pack-tracks m order. From Messrs J. and 8. Wilson, asking for a stock-bridge over a creek. From Mr J. D. Acland, asking tho Board to put Stew Point paok-traok m order. From Mr J. D. Hamilton re divergence of road through R.S. 28370. The following resolutions were passed .- — That MrFergnsßOn's offer for timber on road be not accopted. That the Board agree to deviate the road tbrongb 28370 so as to give better access to 36092. Thst Mr Denniston be grunted permiision to make fords where his water-raoe orossss the road. Tbat the Lyn ford be attended to. That tenders be called for extending Shaw's road m seotion 36099. That the clerk be granted the sum of £710s for building a waßhhonie with copper s.t in brick. The pay sheet for £89 17s Ud, was passed, and the Board rose.
London is now (soya the Mark Zane Express of August 16th), relying for wheat on Amerioo m the first place, on India io th. second, aod on New Zealand m the third. Canada, Russia, Turkey, Persia, and Australia have done very little of lote for the metropolis, and last week the last four sources wero entirely unrepresented.
