The emergency meeting of the Caledonian Jsl.sonio Lodge lust evening was a greot Biircoss, visitors being present from Ngapara, Q.imaru, GeraldiD-, ABhburton, and Temuka. Tho lodge woo p .sided over by Bro. D.\ Dawson, W.M., mul after tbe lodge was paused and raised the Most Worshipful Grand Moster, Bn. Niccol, of Auckland, liccom panied by Bm. Kaye, Deputy Grand Master, and Bro. Burton, Superintendent of Otago, wero admitted with mosonio honours, the Grand Master then taking tbe chair. In his address he said that he had promised himself m Auckland that he would visit the Timarn JLodge when oa hie visit to Ohrietohuroh. He had only arrived that day. He was pleased with the spirit shown ■by St.- John's Lodge m letting tho Caledonian Lodge have tba ' vie of their hall, aad congratulated them on having such a meeting place, as the interior was superior to many halls that he had been m m the South Island. He gave the brethren a large amount of information witb 7espect to the New Zealand Constitution, and after the address the Grand Master and his offioers retired. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Bt, John's brethren for the use of the hall. The lodge was dosed, and the members afterwards retired to the Sophia Street Hall, where a sumptuous repast, supplied by Mr W, Jones, was partaken of, and a lengthy toast list gone through . "The Queen and the Craft," was the first toast, the company singing tbe National Anthem ; tho "Worshipful tbo Grand Master " was received with musical honours, and Bro. Robins having sung a song, the Grand Ma9ter feelingly responded. ** Sister Constitutions " was proposed by Bro. Keith m an ablo speech, and was coupled with the names of Bros. Warburton and Jackson j " Pott Grand Master Bro. H. Th.mson " was proposed by Bro. Burton m an excellent speech, and was received with honoura . " Lodge Caledonian " wob next on the list, and was proposed by the D.G.M., Bro. Kaye; " The Visitors " was responded to by P.M., ! Bro, Waddell, of Oamaru, and Bro. Murray, J of Geraldine ; " The Ladies " wae proposed by Bro. Waddell, and acknowledged by Bros, Robinßond Jackson; "The W.M. " by Bro. S. .Anderson, P.M., and was courteously acknowledged by Bro. Dawson ; " Tbe Organist, Bro. Burd," was m turn proposed by tho W.M., Bro. Dawson. Bro. Burd having responded, tho list was closed with the toast of "Poor aad distressed Masons all over the Globe." During the evening songe were rendered by Bros. Orwin, Keith, Courtis, a dnet by Bro. Orwin and Robins, and a most amusing recitation by Bro. Burton, of Dunedin. A most pleasant time was brought to a close by the whole company standing up and singing "Auld Lang Syne."
