THE RACING CONFERENCE.

(By Teleobaph,) WELLINGTON, July 14. The conference of metropolitan jockey olubs pr ict ically closed this evening, but the minutes v: the proceedings will not be confirmed until to-morrow night. Tho question of the formation of a ftew Zealand Jockey Club was discussed at length, and it wa3 ultimately decided that such an association should bo established as from the Ist day of January next. When the subject was entered upon tho Hon. Georgo McLean, dolegate from tho I>uned:n Jockey Club, intimated that the olub he represented waa strongly opposed to the proposal and retired. Mr Htmdish, the Taranuii Club delegate, also opposed tho proposal but did not vote either way, and the decision of Iho conference for a Now Zealand Jockoy Club was therefore unanimous. A commiltco was appointed to revise the draft of the constitution of the new association, and this will be submitted at next sitting of the conference inChrißtchurch m November next, •which will give time to the opposing olubs to reconsider their decision. Tho prin'-iplo that no fraction of a shilling bo paid out >n the totalisutor was recognisod by tho conforencn, but it was lefo optional for the stewards of any race meeting to insist on the payment of sixpence should they consider it advisable.
