Gresson wao heard at the Supreme Court, before Mr Justice Denniston and a special jury of twelve, today. It was brought by the Bank of Australia to recover £50CO from Cook Beynell. On acoonufe of a guarantee of Gressan'a overdraft signed by him the Bank advanced £5000. On this defendant pleaded that Greason obtained tbe signature fraudulently. He read a guarantee stating the amount as £500, wbieh was mhat defendant agreed to become responsible for. The document was filled m for £5000 either then or afterwards, but Beynell did not notice when signing how it was filled m, aa he had implicit confidence m Greason, who had managed bis sEfaira for many years and always acted honourably Beynell also signed a certificate to the effect that, the guaranteo had been read to him, and he acknowledged himaelf rosponaiblo for the amount mentioned therein.
