A TERRIBLE INSECT PLAGUE. Government attention has been drawn to the state c£ potato, carrot, parsnip, and peach tree roots, which aro infested with insects "to an extant which is likely to become a national calamity. Tho peat is identiGcd as similar to that which de« vastateJ large tracts of the best country m Germany, and also caused aorioua damage to the crops m America.
