FIRE AT AUCKLAND,

(By Telegraph.) AUCKLAND, June 4. A firo broke out to-night m a bonded store at the corner of Albert and Swansou streets, occupied by Butcher and Co , merchants and owned by the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Largo quantities of flax, tow, grain, and general merchandise wero stowed m the building, and were seriously damaged by the water used to extinguish tho flames ; 10 or 15 tons of flax and tow beinj destroyed. There was practically no damage done to the store itself. The insurances are : — New Zea'.and Insurance Company, £500 on the stock, £1500 on the building ; Alliance, £800 on the stock. The total damage to tho stock is estimated ss between £-WOO and £5000.
