THE CHILDREN'S FANCY DBESS BALL. TO THE EDITOR OF TUB TI.MARU lIKUALD. Sin, — There hna been great consternation amongst the young peoplo m Timavu to-duy by the following sentence m your report of the meeting of tho ball commUt cc at the Institute last evening ; — " No ono U to bo permitted to wear fancy dress, so that tho effect of the children's drotees may not bo spoiled." Does that mean that all through tho night do fancy dreesrs aro to bo worn, or that they are nit to bo worn whilo tho little ones aro present? Perhups somo of the ball committee will kindly explain. So many girls who aro not " out," und havo no evoning drosees, had intonded to go m. fancy dresses, nnd if they cannot do co it will cause | a great disappointment.
