INQUEST.
An inquest waa held at the Hibernian Holel yesterday morniug, before C. A. Wray, Esq , coroner, and a jury of six, of whom Mr; R. Webster was chosen foreman, into the deatK of llathew Turk, shoemaker, who was found doad outside his house m 'he morning. ■ Martha Catlow, a neighbour of deceased. 1 living m Wilson street, Bundle Town, stated' that deceased whs a shoemaker, and also kept' a email grocer's shop. She wont to him at six o'clock yesterday morning, to get a pair of boots deceased bad boen given to repair. When she got there she saw the back door waa opeD, and on going to it found Turk lying face downwards across the doorway, outside, quite dead. He appeared to have fallen m going mor out. Did not touch him— waa too frightened— but sent off at once for the police. Was m the shop between nine and ten on Saturday night, and he was quite well and m good spirits then. Had known him many years. He was 74 or 75 last birthday. He had never complained of any illness. He lived alone. Ho had no family except one daughter, unmarried, now at Geraldine. Sergeant-Major Mason stated that he went to SandieTown about seven, on being informed of the death. The back-door was about 2\ feet Bbove the ground, and there were two pieces of board sloping from the door way to the ground. The body was lying across these, as if deceased had fallen m going out. He bad been dead a goood many hours. He was dre«sed except coat and hat. There were no marks of violence, or of a struggle, witness concluded death had resulted from apoplexy. Deceased had been living by himself, and witness locked up the premises and took possession of the keys. The neighbours could not seß the body without going to the back door. Dr Hogg, who had made an examination o! the body, Btated he found tho cause of death to bn hiemorrhnge into the right hemisphere of the brain, commonly called apoplexy. There was a large effusion and deceased would fall and die almost, immediately. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes.
