MAY 2nd AND 3bd. mRAINS will leave Timaru for the RacoJL courße at 12 10 p.m. and 1.10 p.m., returning at 4.40 p m. and 5.30 p m. The Morning Train from Foirlio Creek will run 1 Hour Later than Timetable times, and will ttop at the Timaru Racecourse, to allow passengers to alight, if required. Passengers for the Racecourse by this train must take Washdyke Tickets. The livening Train from Timaru lo Fairlie Creek will start at 435 p.rn , and ruu 35 Minutes Later than Timetable times. It will stop at the Timaru Racecourse to take up paßaengers, and will not start therefrom before 4.65 p.m. The Evening Train for South from Timaru I will start at 5.10 p.m., and run 50 Minutes •Later than Timetable times, uu the 3rd it will ruu through to Oumoru, instead of to Studholme. The 4.40 p.m. .Special from the Racecourao will be in time for the South Train. Tho Evening Train from Timaru to Orari will run 5 Minutes Later than Timetable times, and will counect at Woshdyke with tho 5.30 p.m. Special from the Racecourse. An Extro Train will be run on the Woimote Bronch, to connect with the Evening Troin from Timaru. SATURDAY RETURN TICKETS to Timaru, available for Return till 6th MAY, will bo issued at Christchurch, Oamaru, and intermediate stations on tbe Ist, 2nd, and 3rd May. Apply to — PERRY k PEERY, Solicitors, Timaru. nnAKtt NOTICE thot in pursuance of the JL powers vested in it by " The Counties Act, 1886," tho County Council of the County of Geraldine ot a special meeting held on the 17th day of April, 1889, passed a reaolution Lo the offect that tho By-Law No. 3, colled tho Water Races By-Law mode by the aaid Council, under the said Act on the 18th day of July, 1887, and which came into force in tho County of tioraldine on the 15th day of August, 1887, bo repealed ; and further toko notice that at the aforesaid special meeting the said Council passed a further resolution to the effect that, By Laws applicable to the whole of the system of water works under the control of tho Council,, and to tho whole County of Gersldine should be made, and that the said By-Laws should come into operation on the 29th day of May, 1889. Tho following are the objects and purport of the aaid By-Laws: — 1. Providing for tho proper repair of ond the keeping of water races free from obstructions, ond for the construction ond maintenance o f field crossings, fenceß and hedgeß, by the occupiers of land through which a raco or water channel shall puss. 2. Providing for an annual charge (to be fixed by reaolution of the Council) to be paid to the Council by occupiers of land abutting ■ upon or adjacent to any aqueduct, raco or wntor chuniiel, tho water from which they ahall have obtained liberty to use, and oe to tho application thereof. 3. Preventing tho obstruction of water rncea either by placing or allowing obstructions to remain therein, or allowing bnshea or plants to grow so oa to obstruct the same. 4. Presenting injuriea to water races or anything appertaining thereto. 1 5. Preventing tbe driving of vehicles or the ' conveyance of any material or machinery ' across water races except at the appointed ■ crossings. 6. Preventing tho pollution of water in the races. 7. Punishing Persons for interfering with dams, reservoirs, headworks, buildinga or any other thing appertaining to or used in connection with waler races excopt by permission of the Council. 8. Preventing bathing iu reservoirs or other parts of water races. 9. Providing for the protection of Rangers and others m the Council's employ in connection with water races. 10. Preventing trespass on, or nuisances in in water races. 11. Prescribing terms ond conditions upon which applicotions will ho considered from Perßona desirous of having o service or branch race for the use of their lands. 12.
