HORRIBLE MURDER.

» ARREST OF THE ALLEGED MURDERER. (Br Telegraph.) NAPIER, Apbil22. Tho Herald's Wairoa correspondent wires that tbo shepherd's house at Mahia, on tho run of Mr Georgo Ormond, has been discovered burned to tho ground with tho remains of a man supposed to bo Gollan, shepherd to Mr Ortnond, in tho debris. As suspicious circumstances were reported, Mr Large, J.P., who has gono up to hold an inquest, is accompanied by Dotectivo Grace and Dr Wilkinson. GI9BOUNE, Avril 22. Nows has been received here of a horrible murder committed on Mnhia Poninmilu. A man named Robort Gollan has been murdered by a ha'f-casto named JleQuarrio. Gollan's remains wore found amongst the ruins of his whuro, which had boon doitroyed at Table Capo. On the night of tho murder McQuarrie loft his home, and his young brother-in-law being frightened of being e.t home in the dark followed, a short distance behind him. McQuarrie was heard to Cro three shots. Tho appearance of the ground around Golian's whare showed that tho bleeding body had been dragged into tho wharo, which hod boon burnt. Tho motive assigned is jealousy. McQuarrio has often expressed hiraaolf in jealous torms of Gollun on account of a Maori woman with whom ho was living, and of whom McQuarrie was deeply enamoured. Tho other day he offered a Maori £10 if ho would bring the woman to him. The polico aro at Mahiu, and McQuarrie has been arrested.
