The Anglican Synod has carried by a majority of all orders a motion that m the opinion of the Synod it is desirable that the title of Archbishop be assigned to the Primate of Australia and Tasmania. This motion was submitted by the Bishop of Tasmania, and generally concurred m. Edith O'Gorraan, known as the " Escaped Nun," was the cause of a disturbance atLißtnore on Wednesday where she was announced to lecture. A number of Catholics made their way into the hall, and soon the whole crowd rose. One body of Catholics were confronted by Protestants, and a hand to hand fight ensued, the former getting the worst of it. The Protestants determined that the lecture should be delivered. Extra police protfiction was applied for. Indignation meetings continue to be held and resolutions passed against the Government, and m favour of a dissolu«fafai !u ■■' >'' I Brisbane. The Legislative Council having insisted on their privilege of amending the Honey Bill, a conflict between the Houses is pending. The subject of the dispute will bo considered m the Assembly on Tuesday. The lumpers' strike at Brisbane has terminated, and Union hands have been taken on m place of non-union men. Melbourne. It has been arranged that Rlr Sutton, Postmaster-General for Now South Wales, and Dr Cockburn, Minister of Education for South Australia, shall visit Melbourne iv three weeks time for the purpose of conferring with the PostmasterGeneral on the question of establishing a federal ocean mails service.
