DUNEDIN.

Nov. 3. Mr D. Stronach reports for tho week ended November 3rd as follows : — FAT CAtfTLB. The number forward to day was a moderate one, viz,, 179, included in which were fine drafts from South Canterbury, also a shipment ex s.a. Go- Ahead, from Foxton. Nearly the whole being of fine quality and heavy weights, competition was fairly active, the prices realised being about equal to last week's. Best bullocks brought £10 to £13 12s 6d, medium to Rood £7 10s to £9 lOa, ordinary £5 10s to £7, cows from £4 5s to £8. FAT SHEEP. The supply to band this week was much smaller, only 1355 being penned, inclusive of 220 merino wethers, good to prime. Tho rest ■were erossbrods from ordinary to good and prims hs»ry weights. About ono-third of the ■whole were shorn. The sales opened -with good competition, and the prices obtained •prero slightly in ndvance of last week's, but towards tho close the demand fell off and prices were lower. Best crossbred wethers in the wool sold at from 13s to 163, do do shorn 6s 6d to 10s, merino wethers in the wool 7o 9d to 10j, do do shorn 7s to 7s di. GRAIK. Wheat. — There has been less enquiry for. milling during the past week, millers for th^ most part being well stocked with flour, aho further supplies of wheat having come to hand from northern ports, tho demand is weaker and best samples rannot be quitted except at some reduction from late quotations. Inferior and fowls' wheofc, however, meet with ready sale at prices equal to late rates. We quoto prime milling velvet and Tuscan (the market is fully stocked with the latter) 4s 9d to 4s lid, best red wheat 4s 9d to 4s lOd, medium to good 4s 4d to 4s Bd, inferior und fowl wheat 3s 3d to 4s 3d (ex store, bags ■weighed in). Oats. — These nre arriving freely, but the demand is comparatively .limited, and sales aro difficult to effect except in small lots for local consumption. Tbo rates ruling in northern ports and the Australian colonies precluding any export trade, there is therefore practically nothing doing. A number of holders now seem anxious to quit, which has the effect of further weakening prices, which »re now only nominal. For itout bright milling Is lid to 2s, short bright Is lOd to Is lid, medium to good Is 9d to ]» lOd (long oats are scarcely asked) for ex store, bag» weighed in. Barley. — The Beason for malting being now about closed, tho demand in this direction is not of much import. Milling is not much inquired for either. Feed is otcasionallv asked for but low prices are offered. There are no stocks held here, consequently tho business is rather restricted. We quoto prime malting 2s lid to 3s Id, medium 2s 8d to 2s 10H, feed and milling 2s 3d to 2» 7d (ex store, bags weighed in). Byegrass Seed. — Wo quote undressed medium 2s 9d to 3s Gd, good to prime 3s 9d to 4s 6d, macbino dressed off old pasture 03 3d to 5s Ud, imported 5s 6d (bags extra). Cocksfoot seed is without any alteration in demand or value and is Btill quoted ut 4UI to sd, but no sales are mado.
