CHRISTCHURCH.

Nov. 3. At the Addington yarda to-day there was a larga attendance, to-day's being a double market in Tiew of next week's holidays. Thero was a heavy supply of fat cattle, all from Canterbury graziers, and including some splendid quality. Mr W. Birdling, of lake View, sent in a lino of grand bullocks, ■which sold at £10 6s, £10, and £9, the highest averago of the day. Other lines of good steers sold up to £9, and heifers £8 10s, being equal to 22s to 24s for fair to prime beef. Somo nica beef brought even a higher rat«. Tbo demand was very brisk all through tho saleo. The yards were very crowded with the number of fat sheep forward. The demand, however, was equal to the supply, and a clearance was effected at firm values, shorn Bhcep being even in some cases a little dearer. Thero was a largo proportion of superior quality, especially the Mount Brown halfbred wethoiv, and a line of downs both shorn. Tho Snoivdon and other smaller lines of merinoes also elicited good competition* Best mutton in wool may bo quoted at 3d per lb, ordinary to good 2\d to 2sd, shorn good quality fully 2d per lb. In pigs good porkers met with a brisk competition, and nice stores were also in good demand.
