FAIRLIE CREEK SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary meeting of this committee was held on the 30th October. Present— Messrs Milne (chairman), Welsh, Morris, Wilson, Allan, and Caskey. The minute 3of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The head teacher reported that the average attendance for October had been —boys, 26.6 ; girls, 30.1 ; total, 57.7 ;on roll, 73 ; highest on any day, 66. The visitor for the month (Mr Morris^ reported that he had got the fences put m a thorough state of repair, and had arranged that the owners of adjoining sections were to contribute £1 towards cost of same. He had found the school m good working order. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Morris for the trouble and time he had expended m looking after the repairs, also for the amount of work he had had done for the money. Correspondence was received from the Education Board asking the committee to inform the board what are the customary holidays given. The chairman was instructed to reply that three weeks is to be given at Christmas, and two weeks at Easter. From the same, advising that the sum of £5 10s 8d had been placed to the credit of the committee with the Bank of New South Wales. From Messrs Morris and Gall, agents for the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Company, notifying that the insurance policy would lapaa on the 15th of November. It wa3 resolved that a new policy be taken out for £400. The secretary was instructed to ask the several local agents for prices, and to give it to the lowest. From the secretary of the 1.0. Oddfelloivs, enclosing cheque for £2 10s, being six months' rent of school-room. From the secretary of the Fairlie Creek Athletic Club, enclosing a cheque for £1, being the fee for the use of the school for concert and ball. Accounts amounting to £9 19s 4d were passed for payment. The receipts (including incidentals) were £9 63 Bd. Mr R. Allan was appointed visitor for the mouth, and the meeting adjourned.
